Seems like my love of color and clothing came to me early on. My Nanny (grandmother) was a seamstress. She taught me how to appreciate fabrics & color. And when we talked about what types of styles looked best on which type of women’s figures, she would say, “remember, trends & fads come and go. Style is what looks good on you and that is always in fashion.”
I followed in her footsteps. While I did not sew for profit, I have made clothing for myself, family, and friends as well as designed & created costumes for live performances. All the while, color and texture played a significant part in fabric selections.
Fast forward to the mid 1980’s & the fascination with seasonal color analysis came to my attention. Now I had the background to understand what I was seeing as I made selections of fabrics to sew my clothing as well as what patterns to choose when putting together my creations for different body styles and shapes.
